Lynn Kelleher was born and raised in New Jersey. At age six she became blind due to an accident. She attended Bucknell University in Lewsiburg Pennsylvania from 1971 to 1973. She got married in 1973 and moved to Davis. Lynn graduated with a BA from UC Davis in 1975. After raising her two children Lynn became interested in pine needle basket making in 1996.

Lynn likes to think of basketry as a kind of sculpture, where each individual basket has its own unique style and character. Color is meaningful, but Lynn concentrates on the form of the basket that is most important to her. Lynn is a member of the Bay Area Basket Makers Guild and has displayed and sold her artistic creations in Davis, Chester-Lake Almanor and Gualala-Sea Ranch. She has assisted in promoting basketry art shows at Lake Almanor and the Gualala Art Center.

Lynn Kelleher has been making and selling pine needle baskets since 1998. She makes coiled baskets primarily out of the needles of the Ponderosa pine trees of Plumas County. Other materials she uses include, but are not limited to, sea grass, round reed, corn husk and other natural plant material.
Lynn’s baskets are contemporary designs and shapes often based on ceramic and glass plates, bowls and vases, with and without pedestals and lids.
Lynn’s baskets have been on display at the Northwoods Gallery in Chester since 2000. She is a member of the Bay Area Basket Makers Guild and has participated in art shows at Gualala California and Davis where her baskets are also on display.
