About the artist……
Betty Bishop was born and raised in Chester, attended Willamette University in Salem, Oregon and graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Sociology.
Ten years of living in various places made her miss the mountains, so she and husband Ed moved back to Chester in 1977, and raised their family.
In 2000, Betty bought a Nikon N80 camera and began making photographs.
One winter day, sitting outside a grocery store, she saw a dog with his head out the window of his master’s truck, looking like the King of the World. That was the first Dogs in Cars picture. After that, she began noticing other dogs, in cars and trucks, and snapping their pictures. She likes the randomness of the opportunities, and the sheer variety of dogs and their attitudes, which she tries to capture with her photos.
